Partagas Cigars

There are two types of Partagas cigar brands. One Partagas brand is made in Cuba by Habanos SA. The other Partagas cigar brand is made in the Dominican Republic for General Cigar Company. Both Partagas labels are high quality cigar brands!

 

Cuban Partagas Cigars

Just prior to the Cuban revolution, in the late 1950s, Partagas Cuban cigar brand was one of the largest exporters of Cuban cigars.

 

However, tobacco was nationalized by the Cuban government shortly after the Cuban Revolution. The Partagas label fell under state control and forced out the Cifuentes family from ownership of the company.

 

As a result, the Cifuentes family fled Cuba in order to escape from the communist government of Fidel Castro.

 

Dominican Republic Partagas Cigars

Many years after the Cuban Revolution, Ramon Cifuentes and his family started making Partagas cigars first from Jamaica and then later from the Dominican Republic. Cifuentes family made cigars for the General Cigar Company.

 

Partagas cigars are still currently made in the Dominican republic for the General Cigar Company. The primary market for the Dominican Republic Partagas cigars is the United States of America.

The Cuban as well as the Dominican Republic Partagas brands are still currently considered some of the finest cigars in the world.
